No future, but good for the drug companies that will continue to make money off the high-blood pressure medications, diabetes medications, and cholesterol medications that keep such people on such diets alive. Also who knows, maybe there will be some good punk rock in 15 years, or at least another Hank III or a good

Does nobody talk about his lyrics? I mean, TMR has some of the best lyrics in short pop songs ever (well what what else are you going to call them?). I always thought some of the best lyrics ever were from Dachau Blues:

Waits had never listened to Beefheart until he met his wife, which gives me hope for the future.

Not sure how Trees Lounge is romanticized. As others said here, the last shot is him (spoiler) taking the bar stool of the guy who lived upstairs who drank himself to the hospital. Leaving Las Vegas is a good drunk movie, so is Days of Wine and Roses (Jack Lemmon is great in this).

But you came here on foot. I heard an interview with Buscemi that this is what would have happened to him had he stayed in Long Island. It's well done, and Ebert's review hits it on the head - where being a lush is bad, but sometimes, when the light is just right in the bar and the right woman walks in, it's a little

One word: Buckfast! I dated a Glaswegian and man she was a lot of fun. She moved from the Glasgow slums to Cumbernauld, a "new city" that was a complete failure. Her dad and her family moved to Fremont and when they spoke to each other I couldn't understand a word they said. I asked his dad why he moved and he said,

That's actually a pretty good song. It takes some cojones to post something like this to this group - the snark is heavy in here - and I didn't know anybody wrote pure pop songs anymore. Being in a band, you've got to be in a lot of bars. Our band played a monthly gig at a church that was a dance for special needs

Ain't It Cool News was the go-to fake movie review place for a while. And it seems like the reviewers' name is always Jeffrey something.

We will agree to disagree sir, although Daniel Clowes' comics are always better than then movie versions they are based on, and he lives only a couple of miles away from me in Oakland. Ghost World is worth the whole movie just for that line "I hate my interests".

Crumb, Bad Santa (my favorite holiday movie), Ghost World…Thora Birch for God's sake. And every movie of his has an obligatory shot of a large-hipped woman walking slowly away from the camera. Even Art School Confidential. I ask you, what is not to like?

Oh god Umberto D and that poor dog and that scene by the train. Just thinking of that has almost brought tears to my eyes. De Sica isn't exactly underrrated, but man this movie packs a punch.

Carver's Will you Please be Quiet, Please? and Thom Jones' The Pugilist at Rest. Then read the rest of Jones' stuff and you will continue to write. He caught lightning in a bottle with that story though.

I never saw this because of De Niro's name. mean, Louis Cypher? What do you think we're 12? It's like at the end of The Birds when the train goes through a tunnel. Oh, wondering where you're going with that. And, judging from your comment here, I was right.

Of all the movies here, Down by Law has the best NOLA feel. Lurie's pimp is probably the best part he ever did. Confederacy will never be made, the accents would never work, they are just so perfect in that book.
