Evan, when you say themes, are you refering to the half-human stuff that later turned up in the BBC 8th Doctor novels? Those books did a lot of ruminating on things that cropped up in the TV movie and sometimes were handled quite well.

I had rather a different reaction.

Too bad. It could be a really great show with the gravitas of an older actor. I say this every week, but imagine Jim Broadbent in the role and nothing like the Shy Doctor pantomime.

It'd be interesting to know what you thought of the TVM once you've seen some of the classic era series.

The DJ in the original version of that show was spinning Jimi Hendrix and what not. The BBC was unable to get the rights for rebroadcast. Unsurprising given the budget.
