Darkseid's been known to partner up with various villains if it suits him. His history in the comics have shown that much. I'm sure the alliance would have been explained.

No disrespect, but who honestly didn't see G. Gordon, the Light, and the connection to Darkseid? ANY knowledge of the comics OR the numerous hints at who the REAL secret partner of the Light from season 1.

There's something that got overlooked in this episode:
Going into Dick Greyson's past, we also saw a (very strong) glimpse of the animosity lingering between him and Bruce. Check out the part when Batman is in Nightwing's apartment and accuses Miranda. The stare-down was pretty intense.
