TWO FULL MINUTES UNDERWATER!!!
The brilliant bits (pre-taped talk show, Everest, the chair, car wash change thief action squad) are still amazing, but the way they often zeroed in on 90's culture does hurt its aging process. The best stuff seems to have a timeless nature to it. I think KITH has actually aged better overall, even though I think the…
The spine crunching, 90-degree turn on the Devastator.
Prolly my fave, even though the Everest sketch has crept up there as I've gotten older.
…and with the commentary consisting of their parents, grandparents, local priest, and Ted Cruz providing detailed analysis and disturbing anecdotes about how the only negative aspect of the video was their accidental conception.
And the second hat that never arrived. That was pretty classic. I actually like that sketch primarily for all of its errors. It's just so silly and constantly tanking. It's great.
That Trump presidency sketch was like watching Public Enemy in an infomercial for the KKK. That might be the saddest thing I have ever seen on SNL. You can really sense some genuine dispair with all the cast members involved in this sketch. It's really apparent when Ivanka enters in such a bubbly mode and gets zero…
This one needed Hader and Armison something fierce. The weirdness in that sketch really worked, but it really fell flat in this one. Trump didn't help by flubbing his lines endlessly.
That "Laser Harp" sketch was the worst of the season so far. Just totally lazy and awful. Man, was that a terrible episode. I just can't stop thinking about how terrible it was. It's almost like I feel the need to tell the world how awful it was just to shame the cast, writers and the show into utter non-existence.…
I think the entire cast would have been more comfortable if they had spent that 90 minutes watching porn with their parents.
In order to save Kevin, the girls had to be taken. Interesting sacrifice. I am still curious about what that National Geographic article Kevin's dad was trying to get him to read in season one was all about. There is obviously some supernatural force attempting to keep Kevin around, and I bet that article does a good…
That is a fantastic clip, and completely off-the-cuff as well. This show should be great since it will have planned bits. I also would like to take this opportunity to give Mulaney credit for writing "The Eye Doesn't Lie" episode of Documentary Now. Probably the funniest episode of any TV show I will see in 2015. Fred…
I can't stand Spotify, but this may be more of a reflection of how little of a demand there is for most of the bands on that label. That is not a library of music that the original fans are going to be revisiting in their 30s. It's JV punk rock.
Nice review, and glad to see someone that is actually interested in the show and its many twists and turns taking this spot. Agree with the A, and looking forward to a great season. I think the Guilty Remnant worked in the book, but dragged down season one of the show. Season two feels like it could really steamroll…
Looks like someone is gonna have a lot more free time to spend at B'DUB's in the coming months/years/decades. But wait a second, was he ever really even at B'DUB's in those commercials? I mean when was the last time you were at a B'DUB's and everyone was wearing generic sports jerseys with no team logo or name on…
Funny enough, the final paragraph contains microaggressions against both tall and short people. "Are you saying that, because I'm tall, I'm not allowed to view the band from the closer vantage point?"
Yup.
I think this would work:
I was on board with this until they mentioned microaggressions.
