The Jawbreaker worshipping pales in comparison to the throne Soul Coughing has been placed on by this site. If all you read was the AV Club, you would think Soul Coughing were The Beatles of the 90's.

Interesting read. I think this article could have also been titled: "1995: The Year Punk Rock Began To Sub-Genre Itself To Death." One missing major-label debut was, if I remember correctly, Pummel by All. Not exactly their finest moment of course, but quite a note-worthy band in the world O punk to make the

Hahahahaha… Now that is a good review! This show's version of that would be "Young white women move to NYC to moan and groan about everything. Supportive leftist cultural critics experience anxiety since the show lacks non-white people."

"Spit On A Stranger" was actually a single from Terror Twilight. The Master Inventorior will only be forgiven when he admits that he has been tripping his face off since breakfast.

Maybe if people stopped writing so much about this show, this show would actually get better. I feel like this show isn't even really about itself anymore. It's more about these message board comments. It's about a society angered by a TV show that is a scripted television program that is attempting to be a scripted

I think I've read shorter reviews of Moby Dick.

That guy on the far right must be a big Eminem fan…he's borrowing his favorite pose.

Isn't it insane that the song "Real Emotional Trash" isn't worshiped by millions? I mean that song is absolutely EPIC!!! Even though I very much dug Mirror Traffic I agree about the jammy stuff…I can't get enough of it! "1% of One," "Hopscotch Willie," and "No More Shoes" are all dragon slayers.

I would say Mirror Traffic, Real Emotional Trash, and probably this one as well are all better than Brighten the Corners and Terror Twilight. Both those albums really drag in my opinion. My favorite Pavement album is Wowee Zowee by a longshot…so I guess I like the more whacked-out all over the place stuff when it

Nothing will ever beat the two solos from "Comfortably Numb," but here are a handful that I am always mesmerized by whenever I listen to them:

Most rock stars seem to lose their young cockiness and dickhead tendencies as they age, but Eminem has certainly shed none of his. I mean is there any more of a tell with this guy than the fact that he never, ever, seems to smile? This obviously plays well to his fanbase, who seem destined to only be satisfied when

Your second paragraph pretty much just nails it. What people have to realize is that Eminem is very much an adult now. Listening to this kind of lyrical garbage is understandable for the MTV kids, but any adult who stands up for this nonsense is just a lost cause.

Oh yeah!!! The Clean set was a magical moment for sure. That was a weekend MEGA-NUGGET!!!!

Super "up-voted" for the perfect response!

Dang that is one nasty e-mail. I definitely feel some sympathy for Kevin now. Putting this e-mail out to the universe is obviously a betrayal, but I can certainly see how Kevin would look at this as an equally nasty payback for (what was probably) years of dealing with this kind of shit. I mean Pollard sounds

That was quite the weekend. Out of all the great bands I saw, Superchunk ruled the weekend for me. Their set was just epic energy. GBV was definitely pretty rusty, slow, and very VERY outta tune, but it was still fun to hear all those songs again. I also recall Spiral Stairs seeming very agitated during Pavement's

I think GBV would be right on the "bands that are popular enough to sell their old drum kits for $55,000" borderline. He might have been able to get $5,000 from White House press secretary Jay Carney if he was lucky. That ain't exactly the kit Moon played on Tommy. I hope Kevin does okay though. I am a GBV fan and

It's cool to actually run across one other person that feels this way. Italian Platinum gets no love in the Silkworm universe. People just always seem to cite Lifestyles as the best of the latter albums. "The Old You," "Moving" "Bourbon Beard" and "Is She A Sign" may be my four favorite Silkworm songs ever.

Bottomless Pit is a great continuation, but, for me, nothing beats late-era Silkworm. Lifestyles and Italian Platinum are personal faves for sure. The way that Silkworm learned to incorporate space into their songs was a true work of art. It's amazing how many great songs these guys continue to pump out, and how few

I knew something was gonna happen that would make me wanna root for Miley Cyrus. I feel like Sufjan Stevens is approaching Amanda Palmer levels of annoyance here. Why can't people just drift into obscurity with grace?
