Watching this episode when it first aired, I remember how tense I was those first 15 minutes, wondering which alternate reality would be the one chosen for the rest of the show.

You're right.  It was a daytime show.  I don't know why I said nighttime.  Out of curiosity, how do you know the clip wasn't from the show?  Was there some background info on this point?
