I never understood the hate for Maladjusted.  I think it's an awesome album.  The title track and "Alma Matters" are two of my favorite solo Morrissey songs.  And "Trouble Loves Me" is beautiful.

I really enjoy the show as a guilty pleasure (yet another aspect of the "Friends-fan defending the show against whom exactly? phenomenon), though I really don't like the first season, for the same reasons most first seasons are weak:  characters have yet to find their best and funniest traits, stories don't "fit" in

Keep in mind, while the rest of the movie appears to take place in the late 40's or early 50's, the mother is CLEARLY living in 1995 or so.  She stands out as utterly clearly not the original mom even more than Stern does as utterly clearly not the original dad.

I'm a huge Roth fan — for anyone curious, I'd recommend the core Zuckerman books (Ghost Writer, Zuckerman Unbound, The Anatomy Lesson) and the core David Kepesh books (Professor of Desire, The Breast), plus as a coda to it all, Deception and The Counterlife, the latter of which may be my favorite English-language

So, again, I'm sure this was discussed — the standard disclaimer at the top of a 20 page comment thread — BUT….

OK, I'm sure this hsa been repeated ad nauseum in the next fifty pages of comments, but just for fun on a Tuesday morning, let's run through all the ways Hank is fucked:

DAMN.  Other shoe:  dropped.  The shit:  hit the fan.  Real:  what things are about to get.

I was struck by how stiff and uncomfortable Dita Von Tease was.  I realize that the sort of person to go into professional burlesque probably has a host of shyness issues, and that the naturally outgoing tend not to fall into overcompensation.  But, man, after years on stage and developing this persona, I'd have

I think they should rename the show "This is How We Fund Louie, Assholes.  So Shut Up."
