Sigh. I really like QT, and I don't think he's ever made a movie that I couldn't find something valuable in — but he's really fallen into a gimmick rut, and it's a shame.

I don't know, being a shortsighted, selfish, lazy asshole doesn't necessarily equate to being a sociopath. I think it's pretty clear that he does care for his kids in his own poisonous way. I don't think his moments of concern for them are feigned, or the delusional product of his own self-image as a caring father. …

Good point. It may not have been the best example. I was just trying to remember one of the somewhat subtle AD jokes that friends of mine laugh their asses off about, but which make me think, instead, "Yeah, that's clever, but how is it a joke?"

I really like this show, but my reaction to it makes me understand (a little) why some people can't get into Joss Whedon productions. There's just something about AD fans that makes me think slightly less of the show, however unfairly.

Sad but true. I still enjoy the film, but I also recognize that it's really just a very long music video for the awesome cover of "Mad World." That sequence is so gorgeous, and everything leading up to it helps make it work. (well, mostly everything)

This episode made me realize something I hadn't been able to put my finger on: I feel like Adam Whitman has been largely forgotten. Or at least, had been until last night.

Like Don said, he WAS doing Lane a favor. He wasn't ratting him out to Burt — which has consequences for Don, remember — and he wasn't involving any authorities. He was simply giving Lane an opportunity to salvage what he could of his dignity and leave.
