I think the mistake was in trying to tie the musical episode to "serious drama" (i.e. Callie's life hanging in the balance). Honestly, if it had been a little sillier and a little more focused on relationship drama rather than medical drama, I think it could have worked just fine.

Very good points! I always think of the plane crash episode (and the seasons around it) as the nadir of the series, and I totally agree the show has been going through a bit of a renaissance lately.

Ooh this is fascinating because I feel way more sympathetic to April than Jackson. Not necessarily that I think what she did was right, but someone I still feel like I'm on her side? Maybe because I feel like actually carrying your baby and then losing it really would be harder? (Then again, I have no children so what

The problem is almost all superhero properties diversify by adding white women and black men, leaving women of color out of the equation. Supergirl, Jessica Jones, Agent Carter, and most of the MCU fall into this trap.

Sure but couldn't they have picked a different character altogether? If they want another female antagonist for the show surely there are others with less specific ties to their heritage?

I agree it's nice when the show acknowledges her non-DEO superheroing as well. Like when she saved that family from the forest fire a few episodes back.

I think he said he was busted on his first drug run.

She needs to start watching Orphan Black with Winn! That's the first time I saw the name "Siobhan" written out.

Maybe Boba Fett is going to show up to be boring in another franchise?

I've kind of noticed this too, but my current Google image search research is inconclusive.

She's doing She Loves Me on Broadway right now, which is why Astra was killed off. The producers have said they would love to have her back when she's free again.

I definitely thought the lesson was going to be "Don't get manipulated by bad guys who tell you a sob story." But it turned out the lesson was "Sending someone to jail for 18 (?) years for drug trafficking is a good way to help them."

It looked so much like Mystique I feel like Fox will be obligated to sue.

It is weird that Kara Danvers usually wears her hair up while Supergirl always wears it down. You'd think it would be reversed.

We can all sleep peacefully at last.

I totally agree it's cool to explore the mythos/ethos of the comic books and what their live action adaptations bring to the table. Personally, I have no qualms about an adaptation changing its source material so long as it produces an entertaining final product. And I also agree it's nice that we have Snyder

I totally agree with all of this! We've only had one or two moments where Alex and Kara bond over something concrete (I think Alex told a story about Kara being afraid of the blender or the toaster?) and they go a long way towards really selling the relationship.

"Inner Light" is probably the better example here, but I wasn't sure it truly qualified as a *fantasy* dream world since Picard didn't choose the scenario. But honestly that was more what I was thinking about when I wrote that line.

Supergirl: Civil War

Alex is definitely a focus tonight, but I think it's the first time she's truly been front and center since maybe episode 7? And while I agree Cat was a main focus in the beginning, she's also kind of taken a backseat after the show walked back her knowledge of Kara's secret identity. Meanwhile we've had a string of
