I saw it in its second or third week of previews and I was shocked by how packed it was. I hope it keeps finding an audience!

I think this is a very fair assessment. They've been making a ton of changes during previews so I'm hoping it will get stronger (I saw it in the second or third week I think?), but I'm very curious to see how it will be received by critics. Could really go either way.
Writing about theater is my favorite thing so I will keep pushing for it when I can!
And "I died for him" fits both Laurens and Phillip.
But I could also see Odom winning over Miranda because people will view the Writing/Best Musical awards as Miranda's reward and they'll want to honor Odom's performance too.
I was massively impressed with Miranda's performance. I've always thought of him as a writer first and an actor second but he brought some really great complexities and convincing heart to his Hamilton.
Miranda is so smart about how he deals with a lack of primary sources. In both "Room Where It Happens" and "Burn" they become substantive plot points.
Amazing.
It's interesting because despite the fact that both are "hip-hop musicals," In The Heights and Hamilton literally could not be more different. Hamilton is a historical show that feels entirely modern while In The Heights is a contemporary show that feels positively old-fashioned. While I adore them both, I'm not…
This is the line that made me truly fall in love with the show.
Burr was apparently very outspoken about women's rights though! The show doesn't really bring that up (which is neither here nor there) but apparently Burr raised Theodosia in a very progressive way.
And didn't he free his slaves after his death? Which is the most insulting example of not putting your money where you mouth is. "This is wrong and I will stop it once I'm not longer around to benefit from it."
Allegiance hasn't put out a full cast recording yet, just a mini promotional one from their out of town run. If/when they do, it will be far easier to access. Probably not at Hamilton's level, but you'll be able to get it on iTunes and probably Spotify.
Agreed. SO many people hold the opinion that the Founding Fathers owning slaves wasn't a big deal because it was a different time and they didn't know any better (historical relativism and all that). Pointing out that people at the time were calling for abolition is a reminder that slave owners knew exactly what they…
Yeah every time I get to the lyric about "every other Founding Father's story gets told" I want to say "Well to be fair, we did put him on our MONEY." I don't think he's *quite* as forgotten as the show makes him out to be.
It took me a little bit to get into "Washington On Your Side" but now I absolutely adore it. Some of Daveed Diggs' best work I think.
I love belting "Alexander did you know!?!?!?!" sans context.
I cry just thinking about how generous it was for Miranda to end with Eliza. And also because historical women are amazing.
You'll be okay. I was in standing room right behind the last row of seats and while you can't see anything that's happening on the second level of the stage, there are only one or two important moments that you miss out on. Mostly it's just additional dancing, etc. that happens up there and the main action is on the…
I would love to see Norbert Leo Butz take over everything, personally.
