Interested….
Hmmm, I like reviews like this. Even if it's not stellar, I am intrigued by what Noel has to say, so I will at least give it a listen.

I must admit I didn't get a feel for the record from the review. I like (love) Man Man and like Islands, so will I like this? Is it worth the purchase Mr CashRulez?

Album?
I must admit I'm not familiar with Braid, but from the write-ups in the AV Club, I feel I should maybe check them out. Who can they be compared to? What would be the best album to start with, if I want to get a feel for them? Thanks!

What, Kurt Vile left? I thought he was pretty much the entire group. I love these guys and have been looking forward to this album. I don't know what it is, but their albums get under my skin. It's a bit like the soundtrack to the life I feel I should be living.

Buyer beware, though, Mr Brooklyn. I love the Felice Brothers, but the Duke and the King have none of the grit I love about the Felice Brothers. It's worth checking out maybe (I like some of the songs, which have been out in the UK for much longer) but it's much more 'easy listening' than the Felice Brothers. I had

There are Worse Bass Players
I don't think he was overly talented, but I still miss Oliveri's insanity in QotSA. Josh Homme is talented, but predictable. You never knew what you'd get with Oliveri.

I don't know what world I'm living in either, but I don't think you're right that 40% of the AV Club's articles deal with the parts of pop culture that everybody looks down their nose on. Maybe I stated my point poorly: I think that the AV Club is unashamed of things they like (so yes, they will cover some 'uncool'

Serious Question
I have a question about AV Club's approach to interviews. I really appreciate how the site is thoughtful and accepting, and conducts interviews accordingly, without any condescension, and aiming for real insight. However, I'm then curious about why you'd interview Insane Clown Posse? I liked the

Have you guys seen the news? I think I'd better start panicking a little more vehemently.

Guys! Can't we just agree that all generations are horrible?

Dilletante, or Precocious Rapscallion?
I'm surprised there's not more love for Beirut on the boards. I am definitely a fan of Zach Condon's work, but at a certain stage it started to feel a bit like sonic tourism (spend a few months in Mexico, then write an album of Mexican music!). Luckily, he seems to stay on the

Guys, I could be wrong, but something tells me that this poster isn't the actual Jane Austen.

Yeah, if I saw that photo without the context I'd just say 'the CGI on that movie really sucks'. It's like the Polar Express.

British Crossdressers
I am sick and fucking tired of the AV Club disparaging the Brits' long and proud tradition of cross-dressing. It is a cultural thing, and I would hope for more sensitivity from such an organisation.

Rightly or wrongly, I feel Oxycontin and the pharmacy thing make drug abuse uncool, and thus undeserving of a 'rock' star. I mean, you can be 'cool' as a raging drunk who holds up a biker gang and steals their rotgut whisky, or you can be an 'uncool' drunk who shoplifts alcopops behind the spotty-faced teen's back at

It's just due process. They probably had to run it by HR first.

I got Lyme Disease, but it was while in a forest in Lithuania. I don't know if that is cooler or less cool than while waiting in line for gig tickets.

I really feel bad for this bassist fellow. Coheed and Cambria's horrible, horrible music drives him to drugs, and then they fire him.

The differences between countries would be very interesting to track as well. People I talk to can readily see (and perhaps over-emphasise) the uniqueness of their own countries, but as an outsider looking in it would seem like collections such as this book would be a good way to get a better idea of these issues.

This sounds great. As an ex-pat Westerner living in a (different) Eastern European country, the mindset fascinates me. It's a pity that probably a lot of great books covering similar topics are written in languages I am too stupid (or maybe lazy) to understand.
