So do female characters have to be perfect examples of empowered female-ness for a show to be good? Because, if so, I think Veep is out the window too.

I think that is kind of her point. Sort of like when Amy Schumer got annoyed at being lumped in with the plus-sized actresses (who are, unlike her, literally wearing clothing from the plus-sized department of the store), and then, everyone got annoyed with her for being annoyed, but what kind of message does it send…
You've Got Sext is definitely the show at its best. I've recommended that people start with that episode, but then, they really don't get Danny's appeal. Still, a great episode. From this season, I really did love Bernardo and Anita.
Does it get better? I really wanted to like it (Steve Carrell can do no wrong in my mind), but it seems too much like a sit-com version of the Airplane movies. Is there any actual character development if you watch it for longer?
Silicon Valley is great.
I kind of meant younger women. While I'm sure it would be ideal to
freeze 20-year-olds' eggs, I think they do this to be funny for the
show. Few 20-year-olds would have the money or desire to freeze their
eggs because, presumably, they think they'll meet someone long before
it's a problem. But 20-30 year olds are the…
I just thought it was weird that the person at the egg-freezing place wouldn't have said something like, "If we are able to" because, let's face it, it is harder for women to get pregnant often years before actual menopause (If you're 20 and don't know this, I'm telling you, having known tons of people who thought…
The Huffington Post article above doesn't mention The Mindy Project. It only mentions a few shows (6). The only one I watch is The Goldbergs. While I think it is fun to read the recaps of that show (because the creator of the show actually reads and comments on them), I can see why a sit-com like that (which is…
Considering she practically forced him to come up to her apartment, I don't see where it is rape. He was trying to figure out a way to (for want of a better word, sorry) satisfy her while neither giving her an STD nor explaining that he had one. Clumsy, yes, but not rape. Also, even if the act, completed WOULD be…
Yeah, my husband and I saw it. We are both fans of Dwayne Johnson (Go, Canes!), and I did somehow know it was written by Barinholtz and some other TMP writer (I looked it up just now, David Stassen). They're also writing a Police Academy reboot. It was funny, not great or profound (So for anyone on here who likes to…
I love Casual, but talk about unrealistic. The 45-year old character ( or, at least, the character played by a 45-year-old actress who does not look ten years younger) trying to freeze her eggs? And no one suggests that might not be realistic? Please. Also I do want to know what was in that sandwich. Clearly I am…
He tried the Stepford route as a substitute for Mindy in season 2, with Peter's sister. Didn't work then.
This was a really funny episode. Loved seeing Dot again and Beverly giving Jody a thumbs up. Also, "I told you, Morgan, we don't have joint custody of you." Died. And Morgan having Danny's photo on his desk.
I don't think they're setting him up to end up with Mindy. Get another chance, maybe (a failed chance), but she doesn't know about the banana either, and he didn't go through with it. I'm going to guess the season will end in a cliffhanger, the result of which will depend on how much Chris Messina plans to appear in…
Conflicting stories about Danny's arc? But since when do showrunners tell details about upcoming plot twists to the press? I mean, were Benioff and Weiss going to the press all last summer and saying (Game of Thrones spoilers ahead), "Oh, no, don't worry. Jon Snow will be back. He'll be raised from the dead." No, of…
Casual is great. Love Laura's new friend. Lots to discuss too.
Also, bow aside, I think 1975 was the last time anyone wore that color.
Yeah, the network apps are far less user-friendly than Hulu. I once wanted to watch 15 minutes of a CBS show because my DVR missed the ending, and it forced me to watch the entire show because it didn't want me to skip the commercials. Hulu will make you watch a commercial if you try to skip ahead, but it won't make…
I wondered if she was mocking Hulu or the individual networks' apps, such as Fox's. While I try to avoid it, Jody's experience reminded me very much of watching a few missed episodes of a show on the ABC Family (now Freeform) app. They showed a preview for a movie (The Giver) as EVERY SINGLE COMMERCIAL ACROSS THREE…
I just wonder if people who are shocked that Mindy and Danny aren't together forever or who think the Mindy-Jody relationship is going to last forever (when the show is now renewed for another season and Mindy Kaling is talking about going on for years) have ever watched TV before. Because basically, the main…
