He fancies himself an erudite gentleman of the highest order, so the comedy thing just isn't good enough. In other words, a douchebag.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more. In fact, "aggressively unfunny" is exactly how I'd describe him. Like, aggressively, hostile, virulent, and punishingly unfunny. So much that it physically hurts.
I vote for Mike White. Something about seeing him awkwardly standing there in probably an ill fitting tux, with that meek smile on his face- oh god that would be so great.
Wow, you're bringing back some bad memories. Oh it hurts.
Hey The Space Pope, that's probably why I said "reviewers or otherwise" - and by the way, if you have the e-mail for the IT department, feel free to post that so they can fix this shitty system.
prove it.
too soon
I suspect I'm madder than a reasonable person should be about this, but I'm fucking pissed! All I can picture is him doing those shitty-ass dancing and singing routines where he bounces from foot to foot holding his hands up like Eddie Cantor (no disrespect to Eddie Cantor) and then OH GOD I HOPE he brings out…
FUCK.
Meh.
Ever notice how whenever one of us brings up the fact that notification and commenting program is infuriatingly sucky now, you NEVER see a response from any AV Club person - reviewers or otherwise? Yet, they'll pop in to reply to a snarky remark instantly?
He's a terrible interviewer. Besides Charlie Rose, I can't think of another one that interrupts people more just for the thrill of hearing themselves talk some more. My favorite is when asks 2 questions right in a row and doesn't let the guest answer either one. He's a bitch.
Picture a pale Pauly D in 30 years.
No kidding - hasn't worked for days! As I may have said before, this new (not really that new anymore) commenting system sucks the big one.
Malcom X. (high fist)
I feel a little sorry for the person who ends up hosting, being so obviously Not the first choice.
I don't know, I thought Van Alden made up his mind as he was looking into his daughter's eyes and picking her name from the bible. You know how that can color your thinking.
Wrong on both.
First of all, SNL was NEEEEVVVVEEERRR consistently funny. It's always had lots of suckiness mixed in with a few dashes of really funny here and there. That's why people did and do watch - just in case there's something to see.
I'm creating a template for you all to use so you can just paste it into the comments section after the SNL recaps here instead of just wearing yourselves out week after week. Since everyone just bitches like little girls about the same bullshit over and over - that being for people who've watched it for 37 years, or…
