I'm not saying he's less popular than Louis CK, just that he sold less tickets in Asheville. And it was mostly old people that bought them.

Well, it looks like I'm alone in thinking that this wasn't a particularly great standup special. It was OK, but I think I'm just getting tired of Jim Gaffigan. Each special just feels like a re-hash of the one before it.

For one thing, they weren't reviewing a comedy album each week when Patton or Louis released their last specials. I believe that "Live at the Beacon Theater" was also reviewed under TV Club, but that didn't even air on TV! They just didn't have a dedicated comedy space this time last year.

The last time Louis CK was in my town, he played the same venue that Jim Gaffigan just did: a roughly 2,500 capacity theater. Louis sold considerably more tickets than Gaffigan did. Aziz Ansari, too, for that matter.

They did indeed both make significantly less than Louie. I don't think their tours did as well, either. The fact that Rob Delaney's tour sold out and he's more popular with the internet crowd could indicate he'll do better, but who knows.

This week I had my ass kicked by comedy. The Laugh Your Asheville Off festival was going on here in town from Tuesday through Saturday, and in that time I saw over 75 comics perform. I was working the projector slides at the shows, so my volunteering scored me the best seat in the house, plus free beer and food for

Mr. Show did this best with the "Story of Everest" sketch, I think. But that one was really good, too.

When I was a kid, I made my parents take me to see that movie in the FUCKING THEATER. I still apologize to my father on a yearly basis.

At one point in the trailer you can even hear him offering some "of that California" to the Jamaicans so they can REALLY open their minds up.

I'd argue that their final three albums are actually the best of the whole discography. I liked them a lot more once they stopped focusing on britpop and trying to compete with Oasis.
