I think the main difference is those things came out when we were kids and this is coming out now we're (presumably) adults. The Muppet version wasn't just A Christmas Carol at all, it was significantly different from the original - tone, characterisation, altered/deleted plot points, the extra Marley brother, the

Nostalgic for nostalgia? Millennials!

She is still dating a dog though, which is weird but we all just kind of ignore it.

This is the kind of gotcha journalism I like to see on the AV Club.

Since 92 at least.

This is the realest comment.

Maybe it'll be like Zelig. Kids love Zelig!

My favorite part is, when Tom is surprised to hear Jerry speak having both been mute for so long and Jerry just handwaves it by saying, "I never had anything to say before!" Just looked Wile E. Coyote up and apparently there was an incarnation a couple years ago where he was Bugs' snarky next-door neighbor?!

I think a lot of old cartoons do it, or similar. Scooby Doo I think has a similar business model nowadays and franchises like Barbie basically do nothing but that. And why not? It's cheap, since most of those stories are public domain or owned by the same production company, plus it's got built-in brand recognition

I'll never forget watching that big Tom and Jerry movie for the first time and hearing Tom speak (and sing!) full sentences in Richard Kind's voice.

What's next, Muppets doing Dickens?! Kids shows have been doing riffs on classic films since the beginning of time. Tom and Jerry already did a purrfect take on the Fast and the Furious… so now they're moving onto something a little more lowbrow, big deal.

Doesn't them being rich suggest it? I thought all rich people paid their kids' way through life.

But think how many more hours of entertainment we could get from him if there were a way to exploit him for a couple more seasons of the podcast. There's more to wring out of him, he's not done yet.

Sounds suspicious, I don't buy it. Let's all camp outside his house and throw shit at his window until he gives us the real truth!!!

I don't know if they like it, but they can certainly make a decent living at it.

It's right here, rule one!

I knew this was going to be a bulldog before I clicked on it. There's something about that breed that makes them love skateboarding I guess, the internet's full of these videos. They're the Hawks of the animal kingdom.

He didn't just pay both halves of the rent, but comfortably paid for Joey's acting classes, headshots, etc., too, without stressing about having any of it paid back. Am I right in half-remembering an episode where the group was split among wealth lines with him in the rich section? And I definitely remember another
