Yeah, you'd think Cafe Du Monde is a tourist trap…and it is, but in the best way! Also, French doughnuts. Hello???

Where are you staying? I have so many recommendations!

Titi's on Twitter.

Scrawler's around. Conversed with them in a Otis Redding thread.

I'm not expecting to grow flowers in the desert…

Big Country-"In A Big Country"
Neko Case- "John Saw That Number"

If any of you live on or near Cape Cod, I'll be at the South Coast Comic and Toy Show helping my husband sell books and commissions! http://www.southcoasttoyand…

Kind Sir Viking,

Not really sexual, but what do I do for a close friend who just broke up with her fiance? She's a bit relieved, but feels terrible about herself right now. I'm meeting her for dinner tonight. Should I bring her something? Tell her everything will be fine? Just listen? I really feel bad for her.

I know- maybe those were poor examples.

So good!

I feel like a lot of artists who die young seem young forever. Kurt Cobain sounds like a sad young man. Amy Winehouse sounds like a troubled lady. Jim Morrison sounds like a woo-woo pretentious hack (his age has nothing to do with it, though). Otis Redding has a voice for the ages. His music sounds world-weary…it

Sam Cooke had a beautiful, pure voice; Marvin Gaye had a sexy, smoldering voice…

Most of these artists sound better live.

I am all for the evolution of music, but you're definitely right.

Sometimes it's hard for me to wrap my mind around how young Redding was. He didn't make it out of his 20's, and yet these recordings go down in the pantheon of great American music.

Thanks for the tip! I can't wait to check this out.

Hear hear!
