Give it time - it's too early to make that call either way (EDIT - I misread the quote as saying this album was the equivalent of Lodger).
But why would Robert Jordan's work require a Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh rewrite?
I've heard Jackson fanboys go as far as to say that the films will be closer to Tolkien's vision than the actual book. Apparently all the material in the trilogy will come from the following canonical sources:
