Every industry relies on nepotism and networking. Hollywood just makes it more of an open secret than most other industries. I think entertainment is more likely to acknowledge nepotism because of the risky nature of film making. Movies and television shows are often huge investments; their successes or failures ride

I think Amy did know. She knew Selina was tempted to pass the bill because it had part of her work in it, and I think she was so competitive with Dan because she saw there was real doubt in which way Selina would vote. I think if she didn't recognize that Selina had asked Dan to insert the clean jobs amendments, she

"Hardly Justified, Given Heroes" is the logical end-point of The AV Club. Congratulations Sean, you won the internet. Time to shut it down and go home.

Promo work seems like some weirdly specialized shit. A few years back I met this
young VO guy, couldn’t have been thirty, who seemed absurdly good at taking
direction. My boss would be like “Okay, we need more excitement and two and a
third seconds shorter” and he would just get it. I think I saw him miss the
timing

If 4E has four classes than Pathfinder has just two: full spellcasters, and the people who chose to play the boring game. Pouring through a spell book looking for the right tool for the situation is incredibly fun, but some people like to play non-wizards and get to do something every once and a while.

Stuff like that is done. A lot of bad GMs use that as an excuse to make the character retainers to the PC they would be playing if they weren't forced into GMing. Their pet NPC spends the entire game fighting some evil god while the players are sent to do the VERY IMPORTANT work of getting some backup crystals in case

I was gonna leave a comment to the same effect. They share a knowing smile after Isabel puts her lawyer in the same position that Colin put Alicia in earlier. Colin could have still fought her legally, but after that decided to turn her against what-his-name, his rival, because he admired her cleverness.

I also heard that Disney works this way. I was talking to one of the guys behind marketing Hidalgo, that adventure movie where Viggo Mortensen is an American who wins a horse race in Arabia like a hundred years ago or something. Anyway, market research showed that people get bored by shots of horses… and the movie

Simpson's character was an initial hit, though. I was a bit surprised when Breakout Kings didn't get picked up as a network show simply based on the early buzz around him. I actually heard the people at Fox had never had a character test so well with audiences before. Maybe it's because he's a supporting character? I

I liked him. I think he wanted the wish because he was literally stuck as his car, and wanted to you know, not be a car sometimes.

Fuck that, it's all about adapting Interstate '76. You'd have actors lining up for miles as soon as they saw a call sheet for "Groove Champion."

The War against the Bugs is my least favorite Futurewar. Such a terrible waste of young lives…. now the Mars Rebellion, that's a Futurewar I can get behind. Get off my planet, Earther!

I dunno, I think the Henry IVs are fairly unified. Most of the side characters either color the world Hal came from (Falstaff etc,) the world he will be going to (Daddy and the court) or exist to show the realities of the burden he will have to deal with (Hotspur and the rebels.) I always felt like the sprawling cast

The shooting controls are bad, but workable. GTAIV introduced however almost unplayably bad driving controls. NOTE: I am aware that, most likely, I am just an idiot. But seriously, fuck driving in that game. I gave up after 200000 times trying some motorcycle chase. If they change the mechanics, I'll buy it. If not, I

I'm hoping that's wrong too. Haven's not a great show, but it has some pretty zany and fun plot twists. Like how the main character just (SPOILERS!) straight up murdered the main antagonist the first chance she got. I can get behind a show that does that. Catchy theme song, too.

So the saying is pretty antiquated and expected, but this seems like a good time for an "On the internet, nobody knows you're a dog" joke. There. That was your joke. I hope you're happy with yourself.

@Gary X

Having seen it only once, I agree that there was a certain vagueness to Penn's part. It was a little unclear what he was doing professionally, how that tied into his father's career trouble, and Malick's view of his work… still the movie would have lost most of it's impact if it didn't have those cycle of life,

I think the reason he's talking about TV critics "getting" shows is acknowledging your point. He's saying "Most TV Critics hate this show, most viewers love it, I feel like I might be wrong because TV critics hive-mind elitism, let me try and move beyond myself and see what people like about this show." Todd basically
