The cases you were talking about (e.g., men freed after 10-20 years in prison) aren't typically "she said" cases, though.

Yeah, in Ye Olden Days, cops almost *never* pursued cases of acquaintance rape. It just wasn't taken seriously at all. (Not that things are that great now, necessarily, but they're improving).
I don't find it odd in the slightest.
A lot of that is probably due to cops railroading innocent people, rather than women accusing innocent people, though. ("You were in the area that night? Good enough, you're under arrest").
Don't you remember when she killed a man for the fun of it?
FYI, if you have Amazon Prime, you can watch several seasons of Julia Child's "The French Chef" for free!
For what it's worth, I think you're doing it the right way and are being a lot smarter about it than many people. (Like me— I went straight from high school to college to law school, but ended up with six-figure, non-dischargeable debt).
That means it's suet pudding season! (Mmmm, jam roly-poly…)
Me too- I'm too Irish to tolerate light, heat, or the sun in general.
I find some of her essays interesting, but I cannot STAND to listen to her reading her own stuff on the radio. Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me. (Like the female Ira Glass…)
I LOVE the Flashman series (although I'm not as keen on the first one as the subsequent ones). Those were my main respite when I was deep into studying for the bar exam years ago.
"The Pursuit of Love and Love in a Cold Climate by Nancy Mitford"
I second this strongly!!
Hope you're on the mend and feeling better soon!
I don't have any suggestions, but I definitely need some this week.
Happy birthday to you!!
That does indeed suck. I've had several periods of my life without health insurance, and it's really freaking scary. (Thank God for Planned Parenthood and their sliding scale!)
I still feel guilty about my first car ('97 Chevy Lumina) that bit it due to, er, user error. It was a good car! (cries)
I finally bit the bullet this year and got an Actual New Car, after driving $1K- $3K used cars for most of my adult life. (I loved not having a car payment, but finally got tired of taking time off work to go to the shop all the time).
Yikes. That's more than my last car cost!! :(
