No, more like my livelihood depends on the view of sexists overseas who pay the bills.

For you, yes. Personally, I'm washing the dishes right now so my girlfriend will be happy when she comes home and I'll have a better shot at having sex tonight.

No, but it's a common perception. I live in LA and have belonged to a number of writing groups and dealt with a lot of agents, development people, script doctors, etc. to know a common assumption when I hear one.

Wow, you really missed the mark. You should work for Fox News. Your over simplification of facts and distortion of others position is a real talent.

I see the problem and the solution. But I'm not telling you what it is.

No, mine was at the end of the article and the takeaway.

You can't cherry pick quotes that support your position. Lots of male directors get put in "movie jail." Read it all, especially the quotes from the female execs who say they'd love to hire female directors.

The sun is going supernova and we'll all be dead soon.

And carry $50 million in their purses.

Thanks for the back and forth. But I've made my last post up top. Hopefully it's definitive.

Read my newest post up top. It's my last word and I hope definitive.

Follow the money.

I'm not going to go back and reply to all the posters who disagree with me. But I think I've found the answer. Movies need to be funded, often by overseas financiers. Female directors don't fly with them. For the full story, read this. You have to get to the end to get the full story. Read it all. I did.

I don't see legions of female directors storming the gates of Hollywood and demanding entrance, claiming that they have no opportunities. Statistics can be interpreted any way you want to look at them. If only 4.1% of movies are being directed by women it can be for a variety of reasons. I think it's worth looking

Hey, watch it, I'm voting for Hillary.

For better or worse, rich capitalists do what they want. Until it's proven that what they're doing is immoral or unlawful, they're going to keep on doing what they want. I'm all for reigning them in, but painting them all with a broad brush and indicting them without proof isn't the way.

Maybe the female James Cameron came along and we didn't notice it?? That's extremely hard to believe. Cameron is almost superhuman in his drive, tenacity and vision, despite what you may think of his films. Most male directors aren't even close to him. If a female director out there was his equal, we'd know.

Catch 22. Everyone in Hollywood has to overcome it.

Steven Spielberg: "How about a blowjob?"

Not true at all. Avengers could have been a bloody mess and lost money, as many blockbusters do.
