That would be Spinal Tap. You don't know what real prog is. My suggestion - Listen to the first 3 Roxy Music Albums, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, and the grand-daddy of them all, In the Court of the Crimson King. Then you might be prepared to appreciate The Yes Album, which musicians from all genres of music hail

You've been listening to bad prog like Dream Theater, haven't you? Listeners with discriminating taste don't go for the lowest common denominator. Open up your ears, for christ's sake.

That's funny, to my ears the Ramone's songs are boring and obnoxious.

Absolutely. Depends on the song. But some songs are so simple and unoriginal it makes my head hurt.

Absolutely, if you're talking about a band with talent like CCR. Fortunate Son, Green River, etc. etc It's all good stuff if you're in the mood. Personally, I prefer a little more complexity and originality in my music.

Endless hooks on The Yes Album. And then there's the hook-drenched Owner of a Lonely Heart. But I feel I'm wasting my time on someone who has no idea what thery're talking about.

Hanging out at a luxury resort in Cabo with my hot girlfriend drinking margaritas and popping Oxy's. Anyhting else you wnant to know?

All this fuss for a drummer who could barely keep a 4/4 beat and a band that only knew 3 chords. Geez…

I liked them too, and some of ELP. I'm referring to perceptions of excess and pretentiousness.

*farts*

Loud and stupid like the Ramones. Yeah!!!!

Irony, as it turns out, based on the other comments on this thread.

I would agree in most cases (Pink Floyd, ELP, etc.) But it's still the music I most listen to from the 70's. The Ramnones are like the MacDonalds of rock. A few minutes of guilty pleasure, but nothing of lasting quality or taste.

Thanks for being the only commenter on this thread with an intelligent well-thought-out comment

I certainly hope someone does! Harrumph.

Yes, but artistically punk kind of sucks and Yes did help invent Prog Rock, along with King Crimson.

I'm sure I'll see it. Lots of good talent involved. I just don't want to get my expectations too high, like when I went to see District 9 and my date laughed at me halfway through the movie because the movie was so disappointing.

I was one of those listening to Yes, Genesis and King Crimson in the 70's, so to me this means nothing. Yes are far more deserving of a spot in the R&R Hall of Fame. In the 70's and 80's they sold out arenas and sold millions of LP's.

Funny coincidence. The working title of AfterM*A*S*H* was Better Call Radar.

Well, maybe…
