And I actually think Pleasence is miscast as Blofeld.   At the time, the actor was known for playing creepy little thugs and whiners and it shows in his performance.  He seems far less menancing in this than when he was just a hand, a white cat and Anthony Dawson's voice (which is far better for the character).

It's been a while since I've seen it, but I don't recall the racism being that horrible, especially in historical context.  Yes, Bond's "yellowface" disguise is absurd (it's one of the few things in the film that comes from the book), but iirc the film treats Japan more respectfully than most Western films at the time

I love "Mister Kiss-Kiss Bang-Bang."  I wish they had the balls to use it in a new Bond, either a new cover (I nominate Camille O'Sullivan) or via the original.

I think Lazenby's quite good in the film. It helps that he gets better as he goes along.  He's pretty bad in the early scene with Tracy's father (like a lot of newbies, he hasn't mastered the art of just sitting there and LISTENING to the other actors in the scene), but he improves and shows a real emotional

I think Connery looks considerably better (and gives a much more engaging perfomrance) in NSNA than he did in DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER.

That round-house kick looks hilariously inneffectual against Hammer Films' resident strongman Milton Reid.  I once read an interview with a veteran Bond stuntman who was asked whether he preferred working with Connery or Moore.  He said something like "oh, Roger, definitely.  Sean's a former Royal Navy boxer and if he

Even as a kid, I responded to how much tougher Connery seemed than Moore.

As far as I know, yes, it's the first appearance by ninja in a Western film.  And they're awesome, as is Tetsuro Tamba as Tiger.  And as I've said elsewhere, one of the hottest actress from Toho's giant monster movies, the lovely Akiko Wakabayashi (the native girl in KING KONG VS GODZILLA, the alien-possessed princess

Indeed, the first appearance by ninjas in a Western film, which treats them more respectfully than the novel does.  For once, the commando forces that show up at the end actually do some major asskicking aside from Bond.  And the great Tetsurō Tamba as Tiger Tanaka.  And for fans of Toho's monster movies, here's a

ROSEMARY'S BABY is like THE STRANGE CASE OF DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE in that it's impossible to read it or see it the way it was intended.   And in both cases, it became impossible very very fast.  The Stevenson novel was adapted as a successful play in the late 19th century, and before long, even people who'd never
