@avclub-d87f4ef40a9d5a79ae230f9a81d2df7c:disqus I suppose people meant SOME of the original broadcast music was not in.  Maybe they got a discount on The Who songs by buying in bulk.

Well, I stand corrected.  I was just going by the comments on the Netflix page.  I would say I know that comment sections are notoriously unreliable, but since we're in one right now, I won't.

They joke that no one has ever laughed that hard at Gary Shandling.  The editing on the show really was great, to make that such a good scene when in reality it was people off camera telling dirty jokes to the least professional (at the time, at least) member of the cast.

They say in the DVD commentaries that the two music sources they really wanted but couldn't get were Led Zeppelin and AC/DC.  The former because Zeppelin was still being very protective of their catalog at the time and the latter because it was just too expensive to get the rights to any AC/DC songs.

It's also not on Netflix.  It was very expensive and difficult, and probably delayed the release of the DVDs by a year or so.  But yes, it's great that they kept all of the same music that it aired with.

Between 38 and 45?  You don't remember which?

That scene is the essence of F&G.  It's so funny and so emotionally powerful all at once, plus it's all conveyed silently under the music.

Girl plus CAR equals dead animal.

Because we're seeing the story from Lindsey's point of view.  She likes Millie in the box she puts her in (as Todd mentioned) and she also probably resents how Kim immediately takes to Millie while it was so hard for her to get Kim to be nice to her.  And she doesn't like seeing her friend be used (ie, the big coat),

The DVD commentary talks about it.  They definitely call it a joke, to have huge dog be killed by Kim's tiny car and barely even notice it.

Man, some people really hate being corrected.  I would have assumed that AV Club was lousy with thin-skinned know-it-alls who hate finding out they're ignorant about a subject they had no reasonable reason to be knowledgeable of, but they're like 99% of this thread.  Just fistfulls of sand in everyone's vaginas.

Lack of diversity?  On AV Club?!  Never!

You know Uncle Tupelo has to be from a Missouri-centered metro area to pronounce New Madrid correctly.

Yeah, I think that's a good one.  I was trying to think of something that could capture the culturally transitional nature of Missouri (north to south, east to west, big cities and big rural areas, etc.).  I also like your take on restlessness and how it somehow fits in with the contented nature of the state.

Killing inmates is really hard.  What makes you think it's easy?  Prisons and jails are some of the most tightly controlled environments in the country.

Yeah, but the University of California-San Francisco doesn't play football in Oakland.  UCLA plays at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

According to Wonderlic scores, offensive tackles are approximately as "smart" as librarians and investment analysts.

I think Louisiana should be happy that Hollywood (or whatever LA neighborhood SyFy can afford to rent in) knows something unique about the state.  Otherwise, there's a polygonal zone labeled "Flyover South" on most TV writers' maps with El Paso, Kansas City, Richmond, and Jacksonville as the corners.

Yeah, we'd hate to see Hollywood awards shows get diluted by giving out too many awards.  They might lose credibility or something.
