Parks and Rec is held to lower standards because it's never been as good.  @avclub-c2f4107b6e40254227fa91ccae0a16aa:disqus is frustrated, I think, because not everyone around here understands that.

I sort of feel like in previous seasons people would be pointing out that Pierce's recommendation for the constable came from his book of women in last week's episode.  Like most of the jokes, it wasn't laugh-out-loud funny, but the reference made me smirk.

Just to clarify, AV Club is one of those circles, right?  Because that's the conventional wisdom around here, but as the next thread demonstrates, it's certainly not a unanimously held opinion.

I noticed this week that Bob's Burgers saved some of its killer lines for just before a commercial break.  I think that really helped the episode.  I mean, I would have laughed at Gene's line about Linda's apron wherever it was in the flow of the episode, but since it went to commercial afterward, I laughed, repeated

"I remember when this show was about a community college" seemed like a first- or last-season 30 Rock joke, not a Community joke.  Sadly, I think Todd's comment that we should treat this as a new show is more or less true.  Without Dan Harmon's micromanagement of everything, the style is bound to change, and given the

Better late than never.

I'm not reading the other 1800 comments, so maybe this has already been said a dozen times, but I more or less agree with Todd.  It's Community, and it's still good, but something's missing.  Let's call season four Community: The Green Album.

I'll tell you what's stupid: you.

It would have to be a lot further west.  Most farms in Missouri and Kansas are family-owned as well.  In fact, Kansas is currently debating the elimination of its anti-corporate farming laws.

It seems to me that his outrage is real.

@avclub-5470317571e6488699c5096861915107:disqus More hilarious than that the portrayal of sexualized men is being applauded here while ads that sexualized women are demonized?  Or that the (terrible) GoDaddy ad with Bar Rafaeli featured two fully-clothed adults, but we're only supposed to think that one of them was

Yup, that's why I said it.  I'm totally rad now.

The 49ers have been a comeback team in the playoffs, including spotting Atlanta a 20-0 lead in the NFC Championship.  We'll obviously never know what would have happened without the blackout, but they likely would have made a strong second half push anyway.  As for the blackout itself, from the reports in the game, it

The general rule of sports broadcasting is that the highest-ranking crew is usually not the best.  All broadcasting, for that matter.

Remember that these are the same geniuses who chose to make a Jeremy Lin flavored ice cream, and all they could think of was, "He's some kind of Chinese!  Fortune cookie ice cream!"

My understanding is that this is accurate.  Here's the thing, though; when Catherine Tate goes full Catherine Tate, she' awful.  The only bit of the Catherine Tate Show I am familiar with is her signature schoolgirl sketch, which is brutal.  Her first guest spot on Doctor Who was painful; it was only after she dialed

Every time I see a promo for this, it reminds me of how watchable/borderline good Awake was.  Why couldn't NBC make that work?   The procedural part of it was at least as good as any of the Law and Orders or CSIs, and the "man living two lives" part was pretty well done for a network drama.  Sometimes I'm just

I think there are some things that Frontline does really well, probably better than any other TV show - mostly international affairs stuff.  Some other things feel like they belong on another crappy news magazine show, like the very unimpressive series on the financial crisis.  Stick to your wheelhouse, Frontline.
