I think you guys are being too detailed in your conspiracy theories.  This is a show where the judges decide who stays and who goes; that set up is always going to be a TV show first, actual competition second.

@avclub-e129a878f7b0e5aa9ac09e0282f64ea6:disqus I don't think you'd like the BAFTAs any more than the Emmys.  I mean, they have like six eligible shows in each category, so the one that gets snubbed REALLY gets snubbed.

For whatever reason, Community has managed to both be a critics' darling and be completely ignored by awards-givers.  I don't know why, but the Emmys clearly hate it, even more than average viewers.  30 Rock is the anti-Community; it just keeps getting nominated, probably because it keeps getting nominated, and there

It's a funny idea, but let's not forget that Joe is really only a judge because of his celebrity chef mom (and his ability to make Gordon seem borderline friendly), so he probably cares as much about name recognition as anyone.

To be clear, I think he makes good popcorn movies.  I think he's overrated because people insist on treating them like something more.  So my complaint is with the fanboys, not Nolan himself.

I don't know if it makes no sense or perfect sense for fanboys/fangirls of someone as chronically overrated as Christopher Nolan to be so thin-skinned petty.  I'm leaning towards perfect.

Fair enough.  Never let it be said I tried to defend the writing on this show.  Or this show in general, really.
