Geoff Johns and DC Comics as a whole has a huge hard-on for things going back to the Silver Age status quo. Hence the return of Barry Allen and Hal Jordan from the dead despite more interesting characters taking over for them.

Oh man, I would not tolerate them going the Smaville-route and have him be called the Red Blur season after season. The producers did mention he IS going to be called that, or something similar like the streak or whatever, but towards the end of this season he will straight up be called The Flash.
