I burned through it all too, and I was amazed at how engrossing it was, as I never once found myself bored by the investigation, or the exploration into small-town dynamics.
I get the feeling they're setting up Mona for a Snape moment where she has her downfall, but admits that even at her most evil, she still tried her best to look out for Hanna, since that relationship was the one true thing in her life.
