What do you mean? He definitely noticed she was one of the greatest minds on the planet. That's the whole reason he was with her.

I thought the lions in the Bible were much more violent and much less pettable than in Lewis' books.
Fun Disturbing fact, that will never let me hear that piano coda in the same way again, you mean.
I'll admit it. I liked Hancock purely because it was such a bizarre mess. In today's blockbuster environment, when I feel like I've seen every action movie plot ever and all plot twists are telegraphed an hour in advance, I can honestly say I didn't expect those plot twists. It was all very weird and felt like some…
I did not see that bodyguard being in on the plan at all. That was one of the biggest twists of the episode for me.
I suspect Mycroft will show up in the role of Holmes' father, from all the little hints that have been dropping over the course of the series.
Irene was missing a mole. She had the mole when she was "abducted and murdered," but she didn't have it when she was found. Therefore, it was removed sometime while she was "abducted." Sherlock recognized a scar (I'm assuming) from when it was removed and deduced that she had it removed because it was cancerous.…
We clearly haven't been watching the same show.
@avclub-13d7df3c17502af69aafccc758195f96:disqus : I agree.
This was probably the most satisfying season finale I've seen in a long time because it ended. Much as I love cliffhangers (no, really I don't), it was such a relief not to have to wait months and months for resolution. I think that can backfire for a lot of shows, actually. The writers leave a cliffhanger dangling…
I had vague suspicions, encouraged by all the speculation on these comment boards. But for the entire season, I consciously rejected them because I just hated the very idea.
I agree about the critics. Recently I did a search to find reviews of the series, and I was surprised that 90% of the reviews are from September and are negatively criticizing the procedural nature and lack of chemistry between Sherlock and Watson. I understand that this is how critics with a lot of entertainment…
@avclub-6307a12d5c9e2fb5f23518a9a0ee8dd1:disqus : You were resentful about Rachel McAdams' Irene being killed off? Haha…. I wouldn't call myself a fan of seeing characters die per se, but I was thrilled that she did.
But how far apart? Millimeters? Not that I'm asking you to measure or anything.
I seem to remember one season of ANTM doing a — I don't know what it was… a commercial? — for Modelland. But it was so bizarre and insane that it might have just been a nightmare. Does anyone else remember this?
I think the story behind the paintings is more straightforward than you're implying. What with Sherlock's keen eye and his familiarity with Irene's paintings, he probably very easily recognized her style in the paintings in that house. But the subject matter for the paintings was the New York City skyline, I…
Exactly. You can see him reacting just by looking at the paintings, so it is obvious he recognized her style. He may not have immediately expected her to be around the next painting, but he definitely realized that she had been there at some point.
I believe my response while watching the preview was "Holy shit." And then severe aggravation that we have to wait a full week until we see the episode.
His oddly-shaped bowl reminded me of a tortoise shell. And I couldn't help wondering where Clyde was……
@avclub-c9e3da9f8710cefd2d6ef8629f6a5269:disqus and @avclub-01b6a41c669d979ed6e8f6b95f1c297c:disqus are both absolutely right. Even though the shows are so different, the timing of Elementary kind of set it up in the "Hip TV crowd" crosshairs. When I first heard of its premise, I was coming off the Sherlock Season…
