I go back and forth between CYH and Ill Communication. It's weird, because on the surface IC does everything CYH does, only better (better rapping, better production, better instrumentals, better hardcore), and yet CYH just has more spark. I think the difference comes down to "The Biz vs. the Nuge."

Let's Go to Prison was the closest thing we've really seen to a Mr. Show/State collaboration, so it's like one of those supergroups that could only be a letdown. But on its own terms, it was decently funny.

I think if I were to make a list of my top ten favorite Husker songs every one would be a Hart song. "Never Talking to You Again," "Pink Turns to Blue," "Books About UFOs," "Don't Wanna Know If You Are Lonely," "Terms of Psychic Warfare," "Back From Somewhere"…songs like those, to me, are the heart of their catalog.

What I'm curious about
and what the review doesn't make clear, is Hart's participation. Presumably there's not much since the book is "light on quotes from the major players," but if he's represented, the lack of Mould access might not be a dealbreaker, since Hart is one of the most fascinating and underrated

Andrew Earles was fired from AV Club because he actually wrote this book in 1978.

Yes. If "Rush Limbaugh" was the only comedy routine Hicks ever did, he'd still be one of the greatest comedians ever. This is the bit that introduced the phrase "squeezing out a link" into my lexicon, where it shows up at least once daily. And what's more, no one can say that that bit is dated, because it's sadly

It'd be hotly anticipated anyway, but having been pushed back for two years (not to mention that it seemed to be legitimately touch and go for a while with MCA's health) I think it's fair to say that there are at least a few people who will be shitting their pants when this drops, and I'm one of

Never mind comedy, I would venture Delocated is the best, most daring show on TV right now period, other than Breaking Bad. I'm not surprised to see it excluded from this list, as AV Club has been shockingly indifferent to it - I'd be surprised to see them talking about ANY show so little, let alone one whose

Not to mention the legendary Naked GunzTM movie where Lisa Marie Presley climbs that ladder and Les Nessman responds "Nice vulva"

You're forgetting the song "Greased Lightning" by Claus Noman

I've actually never bought the idea that Americans didn't get into him because he was "too British." If anything, I think that's what a lot of Americans like about him. I was talking about this to some of my friends who are huge Jam fans and I was like, you know, we think it's cool to see a band playing in front of a

I'd say Kenan Thompson, but Nick Cassavetes ain't tryin' to see no black man turn to John Gotti.

I actually like Goodbye Cruel World a little better than Punch the Clock - maybe I've always just pitied it as the runt of the litter, but it has a little spark that was missing from PtC, which sounds very mercenary to me and very much lives up to its title. Plus, GCW has two of my favorite Costello songs - "Home

I've pointed out before that R.E.M.'s problem was that they outlasted most of the bands they influenced. They built bulletproof cred in the 80s, cashed it out in the 90s and became a world's-biggest-band contender, and at the same time, they were mentoring and getting boosted by the next generation of bands; Nirvana,

I'm not really sure how saying I listened to Nirvana when I was ten makes me a "hipster." It's not like I'm claiming to have been into Archers of Loaf or something. In case you've forgotten, it was pretty easy to be exposed to Nirvana in the early-to-mid 90s. I look back now on the bands I listened to throughout '94
