Jorge: Andrew Scott was definitely the hardest of the Sloan members for me to get into in terms of his songwriting, but once it clicked, it clicked. "500 Up," "People of the Sky," "A Side Wins," "In the Movies," "I Gotta Try," "I Can't Sleep," "Blackout," "Emergency 911"…these songs own.

Badfinger doesn't just count, they're one of the foundational power pop artists; I probably would've given them a bigger share here, but that's just me. Unlike Sloan, whose four songwriters are all of pretty much equal talent, Badfinger's records are all over the place because, let's face it, Pete Ham was clearly

Random not-Sweet-related observation: the video game Altered Beast has the hottest game-over music ever. It's completely out of character, and is really smooth and funky. I could imagine like, MF Doom sampling it or something.

On the Paul Collins/Plimsouls tip, I would definitely have included the Nerves' EP in this article, maybe even as the gateway. That may well be the greatest distillation of an entire sound into such a short blast of perfection, like, ever.

You know that scene
where, filled with hope, MacDonald and Lange ask Chase if they can pay him off in installments, and he just responds "No," in the most deadpan way imaginable? I've often said that I want my life to just be the essence of that "No," spread out over a lifetime.

I know that, but what I'm saying is that if they're not remastered, they're going to be in essence the same. And I think the music community is in 150% unanimous agreement that the catalog needs to get remastered STAT.

Call me crazy
but am I the only one who fails to see why the release of any artists' catalog on iTunes is such a big deal? Neither I nor anyone I know has ever used the iTunes music store to actually buy music.

You know what else the Smiths are absent from? My life, in terms of reuniting and playing live. It pisses me off.

When FOB and rappers get together
it makes for some pretty good parties at Kenneth's apartment. Just ask T.I., he went to high school with him.

I'm not sure
but I've got a hunch that you probably can't find much Negativland on iTunes.

Also missing: Richey Edwards.

Sounds like Sci-Fi's principal shareholder Grass Valley Greg decided they could do anything as long as they imagineer it.

Gay Cobain

Giiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrl
My favorite piece of music ever written is the bridge of "Wouldn't It Be Nice," but for an overall favorite song, I'm gonna have to go with "Reel Around the Fountain" by the Smiths. An absolutely perfect song, one that, to spout an old cliche, I want played at my wedding.

They're going to cite Straight Husker Du as an influence.

I refuse to believe that. Gay Cobain is now an unstoppable force. Gay Vedder can't be far behind.

Gay Novoselic will then drive Gay Cobain to the rehab clinic, but he'll escape the clinic and go score Gayroin.

Billy Corgan's gay brother Gay Corgan is gonna fight a battle royale with Gay Cobain over their shared love interest, Male Courtney Love.

Frank without baseball caps
This obviously isn't the first time we've seen him without the baseball caps - you're neglecting his Harvard garb. After all, he is not graduated from that institution.
