Oh enough with the Shakespeare in Love Hate! A very good, very smart comedy wins Best Picture (god forbid) and you whine because poor underappreciated Steven Spielberg doesn't get another Oscar?! I'm getting that people hate that win because it made them realize that people aggresively campaign for these awards, and I

When I was a stupid kid
who demanded that all movies be happy and make me feel good, I dismissed everything made in the 70s as whiny, pretentious crap than made me marvel at how shelltered boomers must have been as kids to make them all so depressed and angry and cynical by the 70s. I've since turned around on alot

I just don't trust people who hate: this movie, screwball comedy or Frank Capra.

So many points to the Oscars for making me, for about 12 seconds, enjoy Twilight.

People just love to complain about award shows, really. Even people who love movies. If the Academy tries to be young and interesting they yell at them for being embarrasing and desperate, if they honor the past they yell at them for being stuffy. And apparently this year, we have to listen to both.

Well
I really loved everything about last nights show. Franco clearly did not but I didn't expect him to be as funny as Anne Hathaway anyway.

Oy
My dad was shocked that Christian Bale had never won before, because he was ceratin he was at least nominated for, and I quote "What's the one where he's a Turk and it's the beginning of Rome and he's fighting Brad Pitt?" Turn's out the movie he was searching for was "Troy"

Spoilers!

Does not compute
I get that the Spike/Buffy sex was problematic. What with the roughness and the way it was framed as her pulling away from her life and her family and punishing herself and him. What I'll never understand is people who say it wasn't sexy (seriously?! Have you actually seen him?) or that it was

That guy in the store, loved him.
"How about a hockey mack like they use in that slasher movie" "Should I just save you the trouble and call the police now?"

Hmm
Maybe this answers my question about what was on those walls?

Anyone else
want to beat the living shit out of the obnoxious sisters? At least the mother had an actual role, but all 26 of them were pure undiluted annoying.

As a Glee viewer the regionals version is much much better, it's from the end of the season when they realized that they had singers who were not named Lea or Cory, so practically everyone got a solo.

Yep, I now express all emotion aabout every meaningful person in my life with percussive yelling. My family is so confused right now….

Oh right! I was trying to figure out where I knew that guy from and I would never have gotten "a tony Awards telecast from six years ago" on my own.

What's the gimmick in Take Me Home Tonight? Is is completely set in the 80s? Have they time traveled to the 80s? The commercial isn't telling me anything useful.

I'd actually like them to show the winning shorts. That might be a good use of twenty minutes.

I like the Montages
I like the montages

Just me?
Am I the only one on the planet who didn't interpret that part of Gone With the Wind as not a rape scene? Because it's really not written that way. It's pretty much written that he was really drunk, she was a little drunk, they were angry, the sex got rough and it was awesome, but then he felt guilty enough

Is that a frown? Or just an emoticon "meh?"
