I think the hype came from a return to a rock/punk sensibility. After grunge morphed into that horrific late 90's daddy didn't hug me enough horseshit, the early 2000's kind of functioned as a palette cleanser. But i don't think that's the right analogy, because that implies that it was bland. I was in a punk/new wave

Back before the merger, if you had a Sirius satellite subscription you got free or at least discounted access to it online. Mrs. Weasel travels for work so should would use it on road trips through BFE and I would listen online at work.

The early 2000's have not fared well on these lists. But as someone pointed out to me in a previous comment section, there are a lot of great songs from that period but not a lot of great albums. When I try to think of albums from that era that I'll listen to straight through only The Strokes and LCD Soundsystem come

I got a lifetime subscription to Sirius over a decade ago. To say I've gotten my money's worth would be a gross understatement. I still like to hear new music, as I get bored easily, and it is good for introducing me to a few new artists every year.
