There was also the Fashion Police debacle, two or three years ago? When Rivers refused to pay her writing staff a normal wage. Jimmy Pardo would talk about it on Never Not Funny, because his wife, Danielle Koenig, was on that writing staff. They ended up going on strike.

I reckon it happens because the older you get, the more chaotic the world tends to seem to you (or you just see the chaos more for what it is), and one way to battle this is to try and simplify the chaos yourself.
