I ended six months of bad decisions by formally concluding my friendship with someone. We were drunk when we met and for every single one of our subsequent interactions, one or both of us has been fucked up, and we've never actually had a friendship, just a series of inappropriate behavior and subsequent apologizing

I too have a huge crush on Anthony Perkins. I just love him. (I also like the shy, creepy vibe.) Actually, the joke in real life is that my type is tall scruffy guys who look like they could be serial killers. He's not quite scruffy enough but it doesn't veer too far off type.

@TheTuckPendletonMachine:disqus Yeah, exactly. I work at a graduate school, and it's graduate admissions, overlapping with end of year events & awards season, overlapping with preparing for commencement. I actually did move someplace warm for a year after I graduated from college, and then moved back to the Boston

I live with three male college undergraduates and there is a beer pong table in my living room. One of them broke the lightbulb I replaced at the top of the stairs and re-replaced it with a blue emergency call box light. The apartment has a persistent and awful cat odor that gets worse as the weather warms up.

I am so done with March. This is an awful month. I love, love, love my job, but it is incredibly stressful right now and I can't wait for this period to end (unfortunately, probably will continue like this till the end of the semester). I also rarely have personal problems but have been having those too in the past

Is weight loss really an unachievable goal? Most of us get less attractive with age, but it's not exactly a requirement that you gain weight, and I think you have a responsibility to your partner to remain, within reason, approximately as hot as when you started dating.
If there are serious emotional or medical

I think she's attractive, but I do not really think she's anything special.

The thing is that Dan has been writing his column for over 20 years so I feel like it doesn't really have to be all Dan all the time anymore. I'm not really hurting for access to Dan's opinions. I don't feel like he does it every week either. I also have noticed (I used to listen to the podcast devotedly, but now

I cannot, just cannot believe that you guys wrote such a long article about a musical episode of Seventh Heaven.

I think putting quotation marks around "sex clubs" would be justifiable because it is a pretty vague term. I think you could make the argument that not putting it in quotation marks would be more scare-quote-y because it would be a vague allusion to sex clubs.

@avclub-75e43c12ef9f1cfdaeae92ca6fa90640:disqus Ha, ha. No. That would be pretty disgusting (like Newport Lights themselves). I did smoke a few of them at the time, I think.

I'm 25, pretty much look my age, and rarely get carded (mostly this is when I'm buying liquor; in a lot of bars, they just card everyone). I'm still young enough that I find it more flattering not to be, which is probably rather immature. The thing is that I am so surrounded by college students (I live basically on a

I bought my first pack of cigarettes when I was 14 too. It was at the slightly shady convenience store in the preppy white suburb I grew up in. They were Newport Lights and I didn't get carded or anything. I didn't actually start smoking till like 5 years from then, anyway.

The first R-rated movie I went to (just bought a ticket, didn't get carded or asked for my age; it was a Wednesday matinee at the dearly departed Harvard Square movie theater) was Hedwig and the Angry Inch. I was 14.

My parents obliviously bought me both TLC's FanMail and Vanilla Ice's To The Extreme, which has some really filthy lyrics, when I was 11.

@avclub-e4854c5608c54d96a6b3f76b9414a746:disqus I laughed out loud, and then I laughed out loud a second time when I reread this.

My least-proud fashion moment: I used to be a goth and I shopped at Hot Topic. I had one of those fake corset-looking shirts that was blue plaid and black pleather, which is by far the most disgusting item of clothing I have ever owned, and the four-inch platform lace up boots. I accidentally left them at a house

Yeah, I think this is kind of a pile-on to Queens. I admittedly haven't been there (I think) but one of my friends is from there and has a blog about Queens that makes it seem pretty interesting: http://flushingexceptionali…

I agree totally. I absolutely love movies where you can see all the incredibly human elements of it. I really liked the focus on dirt and washing and how gritty it is. I think there's a line you can draw between movies that show people having to go to the bathroom. I have this 20-page paper I wrote about different
