I agree with this in regard's to Catcher (granted, I haven't reread it since high school, but I never felt the desire to), but Salinger's short stories, especially the ones surrounding the Glass family, have only improved for me as I've grown older.

ToL has been pretty decisive amongst my friends, as well. I, for one, loved it, but have found it to be an extremely frustrating experience trying to defend it to my less-appreciative friends. The problem with a movie like Tree of Life is that it's damn near impossible to talk about without sounding like a douchebag.
