Paying your bills on time is not the only thing which affects your score. Opening new lines of credit lowers your score, temporarily anyways, because it suggests you aren't financially sound.

You can't call someone a savvy investor when they are opening a charge account to purchase something. That shit lowers your credit rating, thus ultimately hindering your ability to invest.
