I know Supernatural was supposedly inspired by American Gods, but if so they only borrowed a couple of the most superficial aspects of the story. The mythology isn't delved into very much, there's no "new gods", and the theme of the supernatural fading in the face of people's belief is barely there.

If nothing else, I felt that the New Gods needed to be explored further. We only really meet three of them (the Technical Boy, Media, and the cancer god) but there's obviously tons of room for expansion on that premise.

I always liked the "rhyming" scenes on Buffy and Angel…
(MINOR SPOILERS)

I generally agree, Angel seems to be the most unfocused of the Whedon offerings—it kinda seems like the writers didn't really know what they were doing until sometime in S2, and even then they seemed to derail the plot a few times—the final episodes of S2 being one of the more blatant examples.

"Hollywood AD" (and "The Natural") was Duchovny trying to pull a Darin Morgan, just as "Post-Modern Prometheus" was Carter trying to do the same. Neither pulled it off. But Duchovny came closer.

Lt. Munsch, dimension-hopping crime-fighter!

Pachyderm
I actually loved the Fulton/Pachyderm subplot—I think it's really tightly written, and even if you see the payoff coming (I didn't) it's executed beautifully. The classic "careful what you wish for".

I'm genuinely gratified to see so many people in this thread who are drawing a distinction between "superheroes" and "comics in general". Way too many people tend to conflate the two, and it drives me nuts, since superheroes are indeed a frequently stupid genre, but comics in general can be amazing, and non-superhero

There are actually lots of good comics, and comic storylines, that don't feel the need to turn everything about the main character into a Moebius strip. The brilliant simplicity of All-Star Superman's opening page has already been covered. But there's also a contingent of geeks—some of whom go on to become writers

Bullock also later—in "The Laughing Fish"—makes reference to the Bat-Computer. So people know about the Bat-Cave. Which makes perfect sense to me—I mean, why bother building an HQ based on your persona if you're not going to let at least rumours of its existence leak out? It just makes Batman seem even cooler and

And yes, I'm pretty sure they had intended a S6 of Angel and would have continued to develop the Illyria arc—I think I've even heard there was going to be some kind of choice between keeping Illyria and bringing Fred back further down the line.

I think what a lot of people miss about seasons 5-6 of Buffy and 3-4 of Angel is that Whedon wasn't heavily involved in them—my understanding is that his attention was mostly on Firefly. Marti Noxon was the head honcho on Buffy at this point, and Minear (I think) was in charge of Angel. Whedon's name was in the

This may be a stretch, but…
…I can't be the only one who thought that Shaun of the Dead was originally conceived as a "Spaced" finale/special/movie? Most of the cast is there—in very similar roles, in some cases—and the themes of arrested development and finding your life leaving you behind dovetail nicely with where

I'm fairly certain that trash talking isn't as effective when it involves describing your penis rotting off.

Your quick thinking has turned a potential Chernobyl into a mere Three Mile Island.

I thought Millennium S1 was TOO straightforward. Frank Black hugs his family, then goes out and catches a serial killer using his psychic powers. Repeat ad nauseum. And everything was brutal, ugly, humourless, and depressing on top of that. S2 at least did everything it could to change up the formula.

@Asinus: Season 2 is WAY more interesting and varied, builds some actual mythology around the Millennium group, and features some startlingly original, cinematic storytelling. The plots make more sense, the characters are given more than one note to play, and everything gets trippier and weirder. And there are two

"I don't know what he really had to be so pissed off about anyway. He was kidnapped from Angel, like, last week. Its not like 20 years of Angel-time passed and Angel wasn't doing anything to find him."

Am I missing something, or is not possible to be Jewish AND Italian?
