I think you've hit on a winning formula. Part of the problem every time they're separated is their rocky reunion aftermath when one doesn't truly understand what the other has gone through. Two Winchesters fighting out of a hell dimension together is a fantastic idea!

I am not bothered in the least that Dean had that back-up plan ready to roll or that he deployed it after Martin whacked him on the back of the head and Sam was OK with Dean being left tied up in the hotel room. Fair is fair.

My mom played the "Take Five" album all the time when I was a kid. It is part of my DNA. Aren't we lucky this man left us the soundtrack of our lives?

Malik's mom was that snippy bitch family grief counselor hospital liaison whatever from Little Miss Sunshine, a character so indelible that I remembered her instantly when I forget people I meet in real life 5 seconds after they introduce themselves. I'm scared to ask what this means.

That bit of dialogue and the giddy joy of Ryan Shay shouting it to the world? Well that's your holiday spirit right there. Fuck Wal-Mart.

Sam has shown some bad judgment here, using Martin without truly vetting his hunter skills or - and more importantly - his emotional stability. The worst is that he did this behind Dean's back because he's never had faith in his brother's faith in Benny. This is deeply ironic when you consider how often Sam begged for

Our focus is usually on the character dynamics - and it's great that these characters always give us plenty to talk about - but I'd also like to give a shout-out to the production design of this episode. There's not a lot you can do with the constant woodsy scenery where Canada must stand in for virtually every

@LanaKane: I agree with you that Martin definitely seemed turned at one point. When Sam jumped in the car and abandoned him in the woods - with Desmond at large - I thought for sure Martin was a goner. Later, walking on the road, calling Benny on the phone, holding the knife to Elizabeth, his entire demeanor,

Not that Dean would know this, but the trip to Texas did give Sam, perhaps, the scene he needed to move on - that Amelia appears happy with her husband, in a cozy domestic moment. Although her showing up at the bar later might blow my theory and only serve to pull Sam back into his flashback purgatory.

This. Daryl is the rock upon which the whole enterprise sits - for me, anyway. Between him being dubbed the "Redneck Jedi" by some writer somewhere when he first showed up and being so awesome that, in real life, Norman Reedus has fucking titanium eyesocket after being thrown from a car crash in Berlin (left side of

It doesn't get mentioned, but Farnsworth was lovely in a little-seen, early-80s movie called Into the Night in which he plays a wealthy man who's dying. He's the long-time 'client' of Michelle Pfeiffer's character and, even with that image in your head, you're still struck by the warm voice, the blue eyes, and just
