So this episode was decent.  In many ways it felt like a season 1 episode (besides the documentary aspect), although the third act was straight out of the worst parts of season 3.  It was enjoyable.  I'd be fine if Community kept this up.

This cold open is an A-.

I fucking love "Savoy Truffle."  It's one of my favourites.

Sometimes I wonder how people can miss the obvious thematic points of a film / TV show, but then I remember how oblivious Karl Pilkington is to metaphors and conclude that a good 25-30% of the world must be like that.

Beast Over Hammersmith is by a good margin the best Maiden live album (and holy shit is there a lot), in large part due to Clive.  They play all the songs super fucking fast, and the energy is really great.  Check it out if you haven't heard it.

I want to believe that if they surpass their target they can do Party Down simultaneously.  2-for-1 deals work for making movies, too, right?

I find it amusing that he included "33" and then dedicates half the blurb to criticizing BSG.

90% of CGI goes unseen by the viewer.  I don't think people realize how prevalent it is.

He's always been a borderline player.  He's topped 100 PIMs in each of his last 5 seasons.

It'll be bitterly remembered by the fans of whatever team is still paying him $9 million for 40 points 7 years from now.

Cheechoo was converting at an unsustainably low percentage before Thornton arrived.  I think it's likely that Thornton had something to do with the extra shots Cheechoo got afterwards (went from 3.4/game without to 3.8 with) and he probably boosted Cheechoo's shooting percentage a bit, but probably the largest

I feel like Cheechoo's almost underrated.  People give him zero credit for what he did; I feel like people vastly overestimate how much influence playing with another star has on one's production (for example: when Heatley got traded to San Jose, lots of people claimed he was a lock for 60+ goals with Thornton).  The

I have a couple of caveats here:

Why do you have a no-youtube rule?

OK, I didn't know that existed.  Who thought it was a better intro than the original voiceover?  Which I can still recite from memory, due to the impression it had on my youth.

I'm not one to bitch about technological process, but if there's one thing it has ruined it's chess.  I wish I could go back in time and convince the world never to associate computers and chess.

I think Party Down would still hold that title.  The finale for it scored a 0.0.

I watched The Raid: Redemption, and came away disappointed.  I had heard great things, but after a damn good first 30 minutes the movie fell into derivative shit.

The Sabres really never had any "glory" in the Dominik Hasek era; they were a pretty terrible team held together by Hasek's flailing, superhumanly flexible limbs.

Controversial opinion: the "Somewhere out there" montage isn't that great.
