It did remind me though how the whole wedding time thing isn't far off from a lot of HIMYM episodes. The flashback took place all in one night. The real difference this season is the setting and the time between the episodes, not exactly the episodes themselves.

This reminds me, wasn't Lohan supposed to be in this season? Did I miss her?

No. We hide and sanitize shit from kids all the time. There is something to be said for parenting styles that expose their children fully to the reality of the world, but we can't expect that of everyone. I am personally glad my parents spared me some of the horrors of the world in my childhood.

Maybe, but the only way it can work is if they have specific guidelines, like only this much screentime for this, only one fuck, no nipple only slight areola, etc. it's stupid, but otherwise it would become too arbitrary, and we'd get a huge disparity between the ratings of different films.

At least we can agree on that.

Looking back I could have worded it better, but I was trying to say that gun violence is easier to portray as less horrific in films. I'm not trying speak about real life in any way here, simply what's shown onscreen. Obviously real life gun violence is horrific, but I don't feel that's relevant here.
I don't think

My point is that maybe loud noise and someone falling down doesn't deserve an R rating.

That hearing a loud noise and seeing someone fall down is not worthy of an R rating.

I thought it would be obvious to people that homosexuality was more stigmatized than race, I wasn't trying to stir up a shitstorm. But I'll go along with everyone's suffering being equal, I suppose.
But that automatically makes it hypocritical to complain about Hollywood favoring white, straight characters, which I

I mean, if we rate shit just by what happens and not what's shown, then any movie with any allusion to sex would be porn.
Maybe I'm just nostalgic about my childhood days of playing with army men, nerf guns, airsoft guns, and paintball guns and that's making me be unreasonable about this.

I feel like that's a dangerous road to go down, because it gives legitimacy to things like "black people are racist against whites now!" And shit like that. Obviously certain groups of people suffer more than others. That's like saying the holocaust is just as bad as some car crash yesterday.

I have actually, but it was a pretty clean one, I know it could be a lot worse, but that doesn't have anything to do with it, does it? We're talking about film potrayals.

Then why are we even mentioning whiteness at all?

No, but I think we're at a point now in society where it would be better to be a black man than a gay white man.

After all these years I still can't decide if Lady Gaga is attractive or not.

Most liberals are christian too, so that doesn't really fit.

Aliens=Illegal aliens

How does the MPAA make money one way or another though? Why would they care what a movie is rated? Unless there's bribes going on under the table, which I wouldn't be surprised by.

If we start going by arbitrary moral objections, good luck making a movie with a gay character not rated NC-17.

Huh. I always assumed it was cable because they never have news on it or anything, I guess that's what I thought network TV was.
