I'm not completely convinced a lot of current YA books are really written specifically for teenagers so much as they're called "YA" to keep them out of the Science Fiction & Fantasy section of the bookstore, ostensibly increasing sales.  I've read the Hunger Games trilogy, and found it basically similar as literature

So…is there a way to watch and / or talk about The Wire that is acceptable to the guy who made it, or does he want it to be like the Ark in Raiders where your face will emlt if you look at in contempt or disbelief?  Watched the first season for the first time recently, decided it lived up to the most of the hype, and

I think the difference between the Hunger Games series and Breaking Bad, etc. is the difference between the main characters.  Breaking Bad and Dexter have as protagonists adults who go into their activities with some idea what they're getting into and proceed accordingly.  On the other hand, a 16 year old girl, even

If so, I'm in.  I haven't blushed in years.

Yeah, her IMDB history makes interesting reading.  I'll guess it's one of the first times in history the lead in a Steven Soderbergh movie went on to win two AVN Awards the following year (Best Oral and Best Anal Scenes).

I remember when Girlfriend Experience came out and she gave one of the most pandering interviews I've ever seen anywhere here on the AV Club.

Agreed, except was there a time and place that was awash with people who look as good as her at 53?

Since, unlike the other guy, you were kind enough to leave my family out of it, I'll help you out.  Go to Northern Waziristan in Pakistan, and find a madrassa or other training camp for Taliban or other miscellaneous fighters.  The nice people there will issue you some gear and a weapon and train you up a bit.

For a guy who previously said you have 5 PhD's, your reading comprehension could use a little help.  I didn't say the US had never started a war; clearly the US has fired the first shot on many occasions.  I said the US military has never of its own volition started a war, which is demonstrably true.

Actually, real SEALs are the last people in the world to care what anyone else thinks of them.

I'd say you're right.  He's played a SEAL three times that I know of, he's got to have that market pretty much cornered.  Navy SEALs, The Abyss, The Rock…any others?

The compensation part depends.  I asked the SEAL I'm currently on a staff with who knows some of the guys in the movie if they got paid and he said he didn't know.  I tend to doubt it.  There's pretty hard and fast rules about military people getting monetarily compensated for anything to do with their military

Well, looks like I got trolled.  Happens to everyone from time to time, I guess.  Or you really mean it, in which case you're a fucking idiot.

OK, now THIS is an anti-military comment.  As someone who has been around the US military a bit, I always enjoy when military or political subjects get reviewed on AV Club because the comments section blows up every time in a way you just don't see at any other time.

When they're not deployed, actually they don't.  They train (remember, this started out as a video of their training, so when it was being filmed the 'actors' were actually working), PT, advance their qualifications and schools, and improve and maintain their equipment.  But there's spare time.

It's more like they get off on not talking about it.  One of the funniest guys I ever met dated the same girl for six months and she didn't know he was a SEAL.  He told her he worked for an NGO that helped build wireless infrastructure in third world countries, and that's why he traveled a lot and had a government

If you ever happen to be in San Diego, I highly encourage you to go to a bar called McP's out on Coronado and say that to any of the patrons, preferably in a loud voice.

If you don't put in your $1.05, who will?

I'm guessing because 'actual former SEALs' doesn't have quite the ring they were looking for.  And, as mentioned earlier, the whole project started as a training video.

I don't know, it might just be the reviewer trying to separate the content from the quality of the movie.  Many reviewers and commenters dislike the way Michael Moore makes his points in his movies but take great pains when discussing his work to point out they support the points themselves.  I count myself in that
