Great bit of trivia.  "Perish" in particular is such a gorgeous song.  Great band overall - never put out an album not worth having.  "Superblaster" & "Turkey Crossing" from Cuckoo are 2 of my personal faves… And in case no one has mentioned it yet, I hope Shirley & Butch from Garbage have been sending Toni & Dean

Oh, I remember them!  'Flux' was my personal fave.

Gish-era Smashing Pumpkins Definitely fits the bill… their-pre-Gish demos even more so…

A largely unknown shoegaze gem for sure… Also can't recommend enough: Belltower's 'Popdropper', featuring the lovely Britta Phillips (pre-Luna) and Jody Porter & Adam Schlesinger (both pre-Fountains of Wayne).

I'd give "Blown a Wish" a slight edge… MBV fan Bob Mould even borrowed from it for the Sugar single "Your Favorite Thing"

Pale Saints were wonderful… FYI: Brooklyn shoegazers Violens' new album 'True' is a dead ringer for 'In Ribbons'-era Saints… It's Manna from Heaven to Old School shoegaze fans like myself.
