I know I'm not the first, but thanks for your insightful posts. They make a welcome addition to these reviews and in many instances I think you're more on-point than the reviewer, and in every case you bring new things to my attention.

Thank you sir. This is what I was trying to say, but I was trying to be too eloquent, and did not think to use caps lock. My mistakes.

Well, for The Shield, it was less interesting for me. But I'd still take it over most things, which is why I've re-watched it more than once. It's relative.

I realize this is three months after the fact, but just wanted to say thanks for the really thoughtful reply that I have just now read (I've been a bit busy lately). Your post is in fact how I feel about the show also. You're right in that I didn't mean to imply that the tension and suspense made it a guilty pleasure-

I agree. I binge-watched the season for the first time years ago, and loved it, but each time I re-watch it it's less interesting, apart from a handful of great, great episodes. I think I wanted to see more fallout from the Money Train early on, and you think you're getting that with the marked bills early on, but

I watched the pilot when it aired, and even though I thought the ending was awesome I thought the pilot ep was so clunky with exposition, and the characters were even more aggressive versions of themselves, particularly Vic. It annoyed me, probably more than it should have. So I missed some of the great episodes that

Shit. Years later, I finally get it. "Tulips." Really slow on the uptake there.

I wasn't aware of this. That's sad if that's the case. I don't even remember Jace in anything else.

I agree with Yes: the material on Julien's sexuality declined and then basically vanished as time went on. Maybe the writers hit a dead end, but for me I was fine with it. I felt like it was an issue that was ever-present with Julien without having to be a constant struggle all the time. A little more closure on that

The show is awesome, and I think each season has been better than the last, at least so far. However, I think they lay on Walt's arrogance a little thick in these recent episodes. I can see being hyped about killing a drug kingpin/biggest threat to your existence, but Walt is by training and inclination a scientist,
