Is it giving the show too much credit if I say I interpreted the whole arc as being an extended riff on the character construct which would later be defined so aptly by our own Nathan Rabin as the Manic Pixie Dream Girl?  Sure it's rather tasteless, but I think it's an apt satirical jab at writers who think they are

This one was definitely one of the more eccentric films out there, and I appreciated that.  As opposed to a character wandering about and glowering for 6 minutes.  I like the risks the filmmaker took, especially with the soundtrack.

Which is the problem the show's producers now face.  They've got themselves into a corner having a built the show around a group of people who are utterly vapid, utterly stupid, and played by lifeless Abercrombie models.  And so of course they can't move the plot forward too much, because as you have rightly pointed

Add Charlie to your scenario, and it'd be perfect.  I dream of a Bonnie and Clyde ending with both getting machine gunned from every possible angle, then throwing in a touch of "The Godfather," by having one of the militiamen come and kick them in the face.

Not to mention they still haven't addressed the question of just what the hell happened to all the bicycles!

They're still working the bugs out of T.R.A.C.Y.'s latest firmware update.

David Lyon's performance as Monroe highlighted both a virtue and a huge, huge problem surrounding this show, namely that all the villains are far more interesting and arguably empathetic than the heroes!  Neville has had the most interesting back story by far.

At this point, my guess is she was cast purely on her 8x10 that came from the talent agency.  Because I can't imagine how she would've succeeded based on an audition.

Oh I can't agree more.  I really dislike this whole attempt to establish a black and white world, rebels versus evil empires.  Why can't this show simply be about people trying to reestablish civilization after a great calamity?  Why must the Monroe government be bad?
