That was an element of the show that made it so wicked and cutting.  It just completely blows to hell all the notions kids are fed in school about being doctors, lawyers, or rich businesspeople.   In Springfield, standards are so low, that those miserable adulthoods seem enticing.  In many ways a fictitious town

Serves 'em right for dicking around with viewers for a whole season.  Season 8 was miserable.  The real shame though is that the Office now seems to be dragging "Parks and Rec" down with it, which is, IMO, the best comedy on TV right now.

It's like the writer's went from ignoring the fans for a whole year (i.e., pick a FUCKING manager), and now they've suddenly said, "What ho, there are these message boards, where people can post their opinions about our show on them?" and they've embraced our dislike of Nellie by utterly humiliating her to the point
