When you say the animation is top notch, are you referring to the character animation or the entire look of the film: lighting, texturing etc? I wouldn't agree either way though. Cars 2 is too shiny and clean, and the character design of the cars is so cartoonishly simple that the animators can't get a compelling…

I wish the AVC fans and writers would keep this in mind. It was never a perfect show. There were some terribly disappointing episodes when Dan was in charge too.

Agreed. He'll still be working with all the same actors, and a lot of the same writers. I'm sure the producers at Sony would realize that the ensuing negativity onset would not be worth the increase in DVD sales. Which probably wouldn't be very much anyway, since this I doubt this gimmick would appeal to too many…
