I don't think the New Hampshire town was THAT fantastical. I grew up in New Hampshire and towns like these exist: They're a mix of B&B-owning townies and liberal well-off people who made their fortune somewhere else before semi-retiring to The Country.

Oh, it doesn't make me sad. It happened 15 years before I was born.

My grandfather killed himself by throwing himself down the elevator shaft at the office building he worked in (in lower Manhattan!) in the 70s. So throwing yourself down an elevator shaft can or could be done.

Sorry, I'm not as sad as my mother. (Does being a girl make this less depressing?)
