Also, in most fantasy RPGs you are killing monsters or wild animals. The GTA series had you killing, randomly, passers by on the street. There was no point beyond mayhem, you weren't cleaning up Liberty City or anything. You weren't collecting experience points or whatever, you were just randomly killing people.

Well, I admitted it was a setting thing. I think that taking that type of gameplay and putting it in the modern day was revolutionary. In Existenz, it seemed revolutionary (to me at age 21) that there was a game someone was buying called "Hit by a car" (tagline - You are the driver). I remembered thinking that was

The Ultimas were pretty far from sandbox gaming as the term is used nowadays. Everquest was released a whole month before this movie and was not exactly well known at the time. The idea that you had an open, full 3d world where you could just grab a shotgun and a car whenever you wanted and start sniping people at

This movie came out the same summer as the first Matrix. I actually preferred this one. Is it Cronenberg's best? Hell no (Eastern Promises/Videodrome neck and neck). It's still a good movie, however. Remember, this came out two years before GTA 3 and sandbox gaming so it seemed a really cool idea at the time.

Well, if I were Jay Leno I wouldn't play in shitsville for 25 drunk hecklers either. I would demand at least 26 drunk hecklers before I'd perform.

We aren't here strictly for your personal amusement, buddy. Also, Tom Petty.

Super Collider? I barely know her.

Yeah, might makes right and in Avatar the humans got their asses kicked. Therefore, they were pretty stupid to try an all out atttack.

"Just ask yourself, Sam, when was the last person you met in your life who said to you; 'Actually, the idea of using our armed forces to overthrow foreign dictators and try to establish liberal democracy is quite sound'. When? I can tell you: 'Never'"

I just would like to point out that I watched both Avatar and District 9 yesterday, with two different groups of friends. District 9 was definitely a better movie, but Avatar was a kick ass "experience" since I saw it at Imax 3d. I've been reading ZMF's posts here, and I would like to point out that the humans had

Interesting points in some of these posts. One thing that I would like to point out, in the beginning of the movie they made it clear (to me) that the warriors going out to Pandora were just hired guns, not actual military. I assume they called the Colonel as a courtesy retired rank, not an actual rank. These guys

What's that time?

I'd rather be described as "sex on a stick" than a "pretty good actress" any day of the week. Of course right now I'm mainly described as "NNNNEEEERRRDDDD!!!" so anything would be a step up.

Noone has any cred on these boards. Don't worry about it.

Havent' watched the Happening. His other mnovies only work if the twist works for you. Obviously, Unbreakable's twist worked for alot of people. The Village, not as many but still a few. Signs pretty much didn't work (even people who defend the movie can't defend the "twist") and it seems the Happening doesn't

I was referring to COD4 2, not L4D

So, I try to get into rap/hip hop
Every time I try, however, something ridiculous comes along in the pop world that makes me bail on those forms of music/style for another several years. Between Soljia Boy still existing and this album coming out, I think I'll just crawl back into an indie rock cave for the next

It definitely doesn't qualify as a TRADITIONAL fps, that's for sure. The simplification of the gameplay and rigidly enforced (by death) coop changed the nature of the game to something unique. the main reason I loved L4D was that one person, no matter how awesome, couldn't dominate a map. You needed teamwork.

That works too. My point was that a whole new platform was the best approach for what they wanted to accomplish. They're specific reasons could be what you are saying.

"Remember how much you guys loved all of that stuff you got in TF2 after we released it? Well, we're doing the same thing for Left4Dead! Look out for new campaigns and game modes and etc. etc."
