@Fuck you for making me register
Babylonian Exile? Pleeeze—I was a Hebrew back during the Egyptian Captivity. You know, before it all got lame.

You ever notice the ads for Nerf products? A lot of probably-sexually-active sixteen-year-olds having an awesome time with day-glo guns that shoot foam darts.

I love this thread—picking a favorite Sondheim musical is the best kind of tough decision, because nearly all of them are amazing. For me, it's Pacific Overtures, but Follies, Sweeny, Night Music, Sunday, Assassins, and others deserve their disciples. Sondheim's the Pixar of Broadway composers.

Agree with Chartex and Prestidigititis. Last Splash definitely has a spot on my top ten albums of the 90s. I don't know about this 7 LP reissue, but the original deserves all kinds of respect and even (pause) love.

Am I the only one who really liked Invisible Man? And Saints? In my opinion every song on this album's a standout. You may now thank and praise me for sharing my opinion, thus bettering your lives.

I enjoyed it—there are enough good laughs, and Posey is especially likeable. I don't remember Jane Lynch being in more than two scenes. But the secret weapon of the movie is Missy Pyle, who I remember as being hysterical.

As did I! So guys, we're still meeting at the Denny's at 4 PM for the special, right?

When you're reading The Shadow Over Innsmouth, everyone in New England looks like a fish.

You hear that, single guys? ZZ Top concerts work better than eHarmony!

The quality was fine but could have been better. I'm not the best judge—I first saw this on a horrible VHS copy, and was overjoyed to find it on DVD—it had to be better quality, right? So the best I can tell you is, the DVD is better than VHS, but I wouldn't say it's up to the standard of Criteron or

Also a great opening shot—the little girl in early-18th-century garb herding geese down a country path. beautiful and simple, like a painting from the era, setting up the film surprisingly well. And some of the cinematography in Russia is unforgettable. Aw hell, there's are just a ton of amazing shots in this film.

I've got this on DVD. I don't want to oversell it—it's not a perfect movie—but I really, really like it a lot. Yes, at times it seems the leads are miscast, and yes, it can seem a little static, but it's gorgeous and holds up wonderfully to multiple viewings. One thing I noticed in my last viewing was how crucial

Fair enough; I'm remembering, and possibly misremembering, an interview he did with a guy named Breskin for a book called Inner Views, which I don't have in front of me. I don't think I'm too far off base, though, since even in your first quote Lee grants that Griffith was an innovator, and he has accepted that Birth

Agree fully. Of the female leads in superhero films in the summer of 2011 (Atwell, Portman, Lively, Lawrence, Jones, etc.), Atwell was my favorite. A fine actress, enjoyable screen presence, and a figure that gives Christina Hendricks a run for her money. Her sexy, sexy money.
One of the reasons I really liked Captain

I've given up on all the New 52 comics I was collecting, even Wonder Woman (sorry, mattsq below—I loved the initial issues, but it just became grotesque and un-superheroic when they switched artists. Who was the pointless tough-talking Brit they introduced?). Phantom Stranger is the only thing from DC that I'm still

Me too, the week it opened. When the military guy says that they've located the zombies in Louisville, half the theater started groaning "Braaaaiiins.."

Actually, Spike Lee has praised the artistic merits of Birth of a Nation.

Don't let this movie tarnish your opinion of the books. I held off from reading any for a while because they sounded like some muscle-bound goon going around proving how badass he is. In fact, Lee Child does a good job of making Reacher an interesting character, beyond his near-superhuman physical abilities. He's got
