Newbery Medal, I think. That was pretty much how the English curriculum at my elementary school was decided. And now that I've pulled the list up, I see a lot of things I read all the way through the sixth grade: The Egypt Game; Sarah, Plain and Tall; Holes; Bud, Not Buddy; Number the Stars; Island of the Blue

KORRA! I thought it was weird after the second batch of episodes were ordered that there was still a lot of debate about whether or not the show was a mini-series. How many mini-series are spread over two—possibly more (I read the creators have story ideas for a possible Book 3)—seasons?

The best word I can think of to describe this show is "transparent." So much about the writing and acting (especially from Connor Jessup) is unconvincing that I can never get to a point where I can just watch it without questioning some creative decision… Oh well, Alphas comes back July 23!

"Although the series has never fully lived up to its potential, it was agreeable enough for much of its first season, and seemed to fumbling towards getting someplace by the end of its second season, which closed on a terrific cliffhanger."

I'm willing to give Falling Skies another chance because it's under new leadership, but if they have that history teacher shoot another piece of alien aircraft with a rocket launcher…

That was fucking awesome, yo.

Agreed. I read some great analyses of Azula from the A:TLA reviews and I think Helga would be an extremely interesting object of scrutiny.

Yeah, I've seen this before too, but the whole explanation-by-way-of-schizophrenia is really tired, my own disgust for the twisting and corruption of kids' shows notwithstanding.
